- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package (2 sheets) puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Green food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy. Optionally, mix in a few drops of green food coloring.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry and cut into a tree shape.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture down the center of the pastry shape.
- Fold the branches over the filling, alternating sides to create a decorative look.
- Brush the top and edges with the beaten egg mixed with water.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and decorate as desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can prepare the filling a day ahead for convenience.
