- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- Green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Coating: In a large bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix well. In another bowl, beat the egg until frothy.
- Coat the Chicken: Dip each piece of chicken in the beaten egg, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the coated chicken pieces in batches until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side, then drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Orange Sauce: In a saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil, then simmer until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine and Serve: Toss the fried chicken in the thickened sauce and garnish with sliced green onions.
