Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
4. In another bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
6. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
7. Pour the brownie batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
8. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
9. Let brownies cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack.
10. While cooling, prepare the frosting by mixing softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
11. Once brownies are cool, spread the frosting evenly on top.
12. Cut into squares and enjoy!
