- 8 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche)
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyère)
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup diced turkey or chicken
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the bread into cubes and spread them evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in the diced ham, turkey or chicken, and half of the shredded cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
- Bake for 25 minutes until puffed up and golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
