Description

This Overnight French Toast Casserole is a deliciously simple way to start your morning stress-free. Prepared the night before, it bakes into a golden, custard-soaked breakfast treat with crispy beef bacon and a soft, flavorful interior.

Ingredients

Scale

1 loaf of day-old bread (French or sourdough), cut into cubes

4 large eggs

2 cups milk

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup beef bacon, cooked and crumbled (or substitute with turkey bacon)

Optional toppings: fresh berries, whipped cream, maple syrup

Instructions

1. Cut the day-old bread into cubes and place them in a large baking dish.

2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.

3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently stir to coat all pieces.

4. Sprinkle the cooked and crumbled beef bacon evenly over the top.

5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the cover from the dish.

7. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with berries or maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Use any bread you have on hand—whole grain, sourdough, or gluten-free work too.

You can skip the bacon or use vegetarian alternatives for a meatless version.

Make ahead and refrigerate overnight to save time in the morning.

Store leftovers for up to 3 days in the fridge and reheat before serving.
