Description

Soft, fluffy donuts swirled with brown sugar cinnamon and glazed with silky maple cream cheese – a cozy twist on classic cinnamon rolls.


Ingredients

Scale

2/3 cup warm milk

3 tbsp brown sugar

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

¾ cup sweet potato puree

4 tbsp salted butter, melted

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla bean paste

3 ½ cups bread flour

½ tsp salt

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

Oil for frying

Glaze: ½ cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp cream cheese, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tbsp milk


Instructions

1. Activate yeast with warm milk and sugar until frothy.

2. Whisk in sweet potato puree, butter, egg, and vanilla.

3. Add dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

4. Knead 7–9 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. Let dough rise 1–1.5 hours or until doubled.

6. Roll into rectangle, spread cinnamon sugar filling, roll and slice.

7. Proof 30–45 minutes.

8. Fry in 350°F oil until golden brown on both sides.

9. Dip warm donuts into maple cream cheese glaze.

10. Cool on rack 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm with coffee.

Use instant yeast if preferred.

For baking instead of frying: bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
